APPLICATIONS & USAGE

Although Irish Peat burns clean enough to qualify as a smokeless fuel in Ireland, especially when used for hearth fires, the best aroma & flavor from Sneaky Peat results from ensuring gentle smouldering

Soaking Sneaky Peat is not necessary as sufficient moisture is retained from the drying process to packing. However, for extensive smoking applications treat like wood chips if preferred.

To prolong vaporing times & help prevent flaming or charcoaling of pucks over excessive heat, simply microwave pucks in water for 1½ minutes or until water has boiled for about 15 seconds.

Use with most hearths, smoking pans, outdoor grills & smokers - whether wood, briquette, charcoal, electric, or gas-fired.

Grill/BBQ Use: 1 puck per hour sufficient for large, covered, domestic grills.

Position touching hot flame-less coals, low gas flames, hot rocks or heating elements. Best control on a metal grid.

Locate away from flare spots, bastings & drippings. Immediate aroma & flavor.

If puck flames, move off heat or douse with water & allow to smoulder. Start fresh puck if necessary

With uncovered grills, locate food close to pucks, & frequently cover with inverted foil/metal trays to ensure some smoke captured.

'PURE EIRE' FINES:

Grill/BBQ Use: Gives twice the aroma in half the time as puck. 1 tablespoon lasts 10 - 15 minutes.

Best for 'Instant Ireland' atmosphere & quick-flavor gourmet grillin' for minute steaks, kebabs, fish, shellfish, sliced vegies & fruit, etc.

Pour into a smoker box, small metal/foil tray, dish or pan - a previously fired empty soda/beer can is best & easiest for most applications. Place like pucks.

SMOKER CHIPS:

Usage: The smaller the better. A few chips per hour sufficient for most domestic smokers.

Place in metal/foil tray, can or pan for ease of handling when renewing chips and minimizing flaming. Locate as with regular smoker chips.

Protect chips from bastings & drippings.

Add chips when aroma fades.

Can be blended and soaked like wood chips.

CHUNKS

Usage: 1-2 chunks per hour suficient for full flavor on mobile, oven-type grills & smokers.

If soaking preferred see notes above or treat like wood chunks but in lesser amounts.

For ease of control, renewing chunks & minimizing flaming, place on mesh/grid, just touching burners or coals.

Protect chips from bastings & drippings

Best aroma & flavor results when used from start of cooking & chunks vapor not flame. Add to suit if aroma fades.

They can also be used on open gas hearths having a chimney or extraction flue.

AROMA LOGS:

Usage: One AromaLog per evening is sufficient for lasting aroma from domestic hearth fires, using wood, charcoal, composite briquettes or firelogs - or from gas hearth fires using non-combustible logs.

Place AromaLog on hearth grate with one end towards front or side of settled fire. Adjust proximity to heat so as to smoulder gently & not catch fire. Ensure any smoke is normally extracted.

If grate bars are too widely spaced, place AromaLog on piece of close-weave wire mesh, small baking tray or metal plate.

With gas-fired hearths use small baking tray or metal plate to both secure the AromaLog and retain residue ash.

To prevent initial flaming with large hearth fires, AromaLogs are easily soaked before use by immersing in water and microwaving for 2-3 minutes
